Networks, governments, and industry consortiums are also planning to expand the mechanics of authentication to encompass FIDO2 and how trust is exchanged (VCs). The challenge with all these initiatives is not technical, it is economic. Networks need a network operator. Tokens are keys to network control of the flow of data and the economics.
